***From Here to Eternity(1953) (96. Jan, 15)
Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift, Deborah Kerr. A tight, tough screenplay, sensitive directing, and superb acting characterise the adaptation of the James Jones novel set on an army base in Hawaii in the months before Pearl Harbor. one of the best American films of the 1950s, well deserving of its Oscar for Best Film. Sinatra and Teed each won Supporting surprisingly different from their earlier images.

--The book was difficult, the movie seemed too superficial. I didn't consider it as good as the critic says.
Maybe it is because of the time gap.
